Introduction to
Gospel Preacher and Writer, Leroy Surface By Jerry D.

As some doubtless know, I strongly believe that the proclaiming of
the true gospel of Jesus Christ is the number one priority of any ministry. I
still believe that to be true. However, because of the shortness of time before
Jesus returns, my thinking concerning the importance of (rightly divided) end
time doctrine has greatly increased. For more than a century now, and seemingly
unbeknown to the church our common enemy the devil, has ever so subtlety woven
a pernicious web of error and deception into virtually all end time doctrine
teaching. Why? Because he, better than anyone else, knows that he has “…but a short time” to blind the minds and deceive those who will to be deceived; and
what better way to deceive than to cause a person to procrastinate in their
lost and sinful condition because of the lie of false teachings that
give a person a false hope; and therefore a false sense of security (John
8:43-47). Something that makes Brother Surfaces ministry unique to any other
ministry I am aware of, is the fact that God spoke to him in the early years of
his ministry not to fashion his ministry after other preachers, teachers, and
writers; i.e., don’t read books, commentaries, sermons, etc. written by others,
but to study the scriptures only and allow the Holy Ghost to teach the truth of
them (God’s word) to him (I John 2:26-27). For the most part, he did
that, and because he did, his understanding of the scriptures was not
needlessly and/or inevitably shaped and influenced by erroneous teaching.
Unscrambling the host of errors that are so prevalent in the church today, not
only concerning end time doctrine but more treacherously, the true gospel of
Jesus Christ itself, is equivalent to mixing the pieces of multiple jigsaw
puzzles together and then trying to assemble them. I can tell you from my own
experience that it is much easier to learn something correctly, than to learn
something incorrectly, then have to unlearn and relearn. Wrong teaching creates
a wrong concept that can blind the mind of a person to the point that, even the
Holy Ghost cannot guide that person into the “…word of the truth
of the gospel…”
(Colossians 1:5;
John 16:13). The safest and, I believe, the only way not to be
deceived, is to receive “…the love of the truth…” (II
Thessalonians 2:9-12). It is only those who love the truth that the “…Spirit of truth…” can lead and guide into all truth (John 16:13). Brother Surface is extremely knowledgeable in the scriptures and is
Holy Ghost taught, not only in prophecy, but much more importantly, in the true
gospel of Jesus Christ. Because of this, you will find that many of the things
he teaches are different from that which is traditionally taught. With this in
mind and because of the urgency of the hour and the relevancy of these messages
to the hour, we ask you to carefully and prayerfully study and weigh what is
being said, not only concerning the prophetic messages, but, much more
so, the gospel messages and commentaries he writes. We trust, and pray,
that these great messages and commentaries will enlighten the understanding of
everyone who will take the time to read and study them; not just to those who
have a fervent interest in end time prophecy, but especially to those who truly
hunger and thirst after the truth of the gospel. In both cases that should be
everyone of us. If you hunger and thirst for the truth as it is in Jesus, the
